Driving to Pondy
Soon, I will be going to pondicherry. A drive along ECR on a day like today(wonderful cloudy weather in madras)! Awzmo!!
What’s in a name?
I have changed the name of this blog, from The Infinite Space to ‘The meat safe and the study desk’.
The story behind this is an interesting one. As I was experimenting with Google Page Creator, I created a page titled ‘The meat safe and the study desk‘ with pictures of an old meat safe and a study desk that we had at home. A collegue of mine saw the inner meaning behind the title(just as she usually does with most things!) and asked me about it. I had not named it with any intentionally with an apparent meaning. Just a straight forward one – A page with photos of a meat safe and a study desk would be named just that! But I realised that it was indeed a good name for a weblog, and thus the change. I quite like it, at least for now.
Now, again, we face the theme problem. A name like Meat safe and Study desk just dint look good with the default WordPress Kubrick theme. Settled for this one after some debating. If only WP had access to the templates, I would change the theme and have pictures of…well, a Meat Safe and a Study Desk.
DNA Computer
Israeli scientists have devised a computer that can perform 330 trillion operations per second, more than 100,000 times the speed of the fastest PC. The secret: It runs on DNA.
This video is giving me goose bumps!
Found some video clips of the Macworld Conference at Boston, 1997, where Steve Jobs, who definitely looks less confident than he does these days, makes some staggering announcements. He looks less confident because of the bankrutpcy that had come over Apple Computer. The announcemnts are staggering because, its his good old friend who comes out to help!
Line of the show (so far) : Steve says, ” We have to let go of the notion that for Apple to win, Microsoft has to lose”
A must see.
Update (March 4, 2006): Watched the video completely. Offers insights on the character of the man, Steve Jobs. Apparently Apple was never in a state of bankruptcy. Whats the truth about that??
